Implications of a perinatal HIV infection on adolescent health
Thesis cover and layout design
Children who were infected with HIV at birth are now growing up into adolescence and young adulthood. Jason van Genderen focused his PhD research on how this may affect them over time on a neurological and cognitive level (following up on the research published in my PhD thesis). His work is not only a testimony to the resilience of these children and young adults, but also to the organisation and quality of HIV-related care in the Netherlands.
For his thesis, Jason had a stylish and minimalistic look in mind. To achieve that, we landed on a two-tone color scheme and sketched line illustration. The lines symbolize the years passing and the changing impact of the virus over time. The illustration is also used throughout the book as a chapter divider.
The thesis was printed by Ridderprint and is available through the Amsterdam University Medical Centers.
