DESIGN PROCESS

Here’s an idea of what it’s like to work with me:

EXPLORE

First things’s first: I look forward to getting to know you and your ideas! Get in touch with me via the contact page, and let’s continue the conversation on a scheduled phone or video call (or via email if you prefer).

In this first conversation, I’d love to hear your ideas. I welcome as much detail as you might have in mind, including styles, specific visual elements, materials, and printing options where applicable. The goal is to really understand what you are looking for, and that you have a realistic expectation of what I can do for you.

With this information, I will get back to you with a price quote and estimated time frame. Up to here, there are no costs involved.

DESIGNING

After agreement on the price quote and a downpayment, I will start working on the initial design. In this phase, I create a few initial design concepts. For designs intended for print, I can also include mock-ups to give you a good idea of what it would look like.

For a card or logo, this phase generally takes two weeks, depending on the complexity of the design. For custom illustrations or designs that incorporate mixed media, please allow a little extra time — I will always give you an estimated time frame along with the price quote in step 1.

ADJUSTING

Once you’ve reviewed the initial design concepts, I will adjust your preferred design according to your feedback until it feels right to you. The design process includes three adjustment rounds, but further adjustments can be done at additional cost until the final design is exactly right.

Please allow a few days for each adjustment.

Of note: little technical fixes or adjusting final textual details for a birth announcement do not require a separate adjustment round, this is included in the design process.

PRINTING

Time for a print! FEATHER + MOON works with several printers to find the most suitable and planet-friendly solution that matches your desired look and feel. Most of them charge a fee for an optional test print.

After final minor adjustments (like adding birth details, or little technical fixes) and a double-check for accuracy, it will be sent to the printing company.

In most cases, the printed product will be delivered to you directly within a few days. If it requires assembly, I can optionally facilitate this at additional cost.

PAYMENT

Payment will be in two phases:

  1. A downpayment at the beginning of the design process. This will be approximately half of the final design price (excluding printing/material costs).
  2. The final payment of the remaining design price, including printing and materials, coinciding with the printing process.

To get an idea of what it costs to have your design created by me, please view the price list.

For a free price quote that includes every aspect of the process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

FEEDBACK

My work process is substantially reliant on your feedback – I love letting myself be inspired by your ideas. Feel free to ask questions and tell me what you think. You can expect open and honest communication at all times, to make this process as easy and enjoyable as possible.
