The day I could call myself a published illustrator was when my drawing of a “Rocket 88” advertisement was used in a book to accompany the story behind the song. The chapter starts in 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee, with Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats, and follows its influence on the development of rock ‘n roll.
The drawing of the Oldsmobile was originally done in graphite. To complete the look, I added an old sheet of paper and some color in Adobe Photoshop.
